Early in May of 2004, the Roadster was sighted at Lone Star Corvette Club's annual show. Located in north Texas, and home to the Texas Motor Speedway; the Texas Motor Speedway Classic XV was held  just outside of Fort Worth. The Speedway is a one and a half mile, Nascar, sanctioned oval track in a stadium environment; perfect for pushing the limits of your muscle machine. …

Young Chevrolet of Dallas
has sponsored the club since 1988.

Lone Star Corvette Club played host to over 350 corvette, and an estimated crowd of 3,500-4,000 spectators. The show was open to the general public with no admission charge.

On hand for this year's event were GM's dignitaries:

  • Craig Eppling

  • Mrs. Dollie Cole

  • Dick Guldstrand

  • Nate Love

  • Dave Hill

The Texas Motor Speedway provided the optimum environment for Lone Star's annual event. Underneath the stadium setting was a clean cool atmosphere, where refreshments, and merchandise were displayed for the well heeled crowd.

Early in the evening, Mrs. Dollie, Chairman of the National Corvette Museum (NCM), radiated the need to support the Museum from the podium of the San Marcos room at the Doral Tesoro. While humoring the crowd with her stand-up comedy, she emphasized her appreciation of Lone Star's charitable efforts, and support of NCM. For additional information on how you can support the museum; contact Bobby Jo at NCM, or Stephanie Farrel.

Tom Peters, and Dave Hill are the proud papas of corvette's new legacy design; the C6.

Currently on tour across the US; one was made specially available to the largest corvette club in the country; Lone Star Corvette Club.

The sellout banquet crowd listened passionately to Dave Hill's power point presentation.

Dave Hill highlighted GM's attention for detail."...rendering the C5 obsolete to create the most perfect corvette...". The new design features incorporate:

  • Power

  • Passion

  • Precision

"...With a large margin of safety, lasting power, interior upgrades, new headlamps, and shifter more akin to a joystick..."!

The new C6 appears to have just returned from her Jenny Craig diet; dropping weight, length, and width of her "supersized" older sister.

She was redesign to be 2.9 inches shorter in the rear, and 3.3 inches in the front; while trimming down in the waist one dress size .6 inches. Less we forget to mention, the muscle tone of her new LS2 400 horsepower small block.

She's a supermodel!

Kudos to Hill & Team!

Doral Tesoro Hotel-

Saturday night 's banquet, and silent auction raised thousands of dollars for charity. The culmination of the evening revolved on a bidding war for a National Corvette Museum's flag; which sold in excess of $2,000.00. Diecast to oils were additionally auctioned prior to the banquet. Autographed renderings, and diecast appeared to be collector's interest of the evening.

Highest honors went to the notable dignitaries Mrs. Dollie Cole, Dick Guldstrand, and Dave Hill; who spoke at Saturday nights banquet.

It was refreshing to hear Dave say; "...GM was continuing to support corvette racing. He lauded on the facts; that the C5-R was 9 seconds faster at LeMans, and 5 seconds faster in laptime...". Cruis'n!

Equally represented were corvette racing replica, and our good friends at Lone Star Caliper. Ken and the crowd can handle all your braking, and suspension needs. You can contact Monty at: http://lonestarcaliper.com.

We were fortunate to meet some new friends at  the Corvette Corner, Young Chevrolet, and run into some old friends; like Lone Star's ex-president, and fellow Board members:

Hope to see ya'll next year!
